forgive me.

You might not think it, but this is a very busy time of year for the video production universe. So with that, my publishing deal, and all the funerals I've had to plan, this blog has suffered.

So, I'm putting it on hold until January. Unless, I feel inclined to post something that I simply cannot keep to myself.

See you all in January.

Today's Polyvorian is lovemejessy. And I'm pretty sure she's crazy, because she's a genius. All genius' are crazy. If there isn't an item that she wants to put in her set available, guess what. She makes it. Her ability to transform every item in her sets amazes me. Nothing is simple and everything is adorned. If there ever was a Polyvorian that believed "more is more" it's lovemejessy.

Halloween Without A Costume

I have been thinking a lot about what I want to be for Halloween lately. I am having a party so I assumed that a costume is a must.
I tossed around the idea of being Queen Gorgo from the movie 300, and as badass as that character is, the costume just doesn't have enough "flair" for me. And then I thought I could be vampire, but all the vampire costumes I could find were lame. And then I found this amazing witch's hat with feathers, tulle, and sequins, but I decided that was too played.
So what if just didn't have a costume? What if instead of dropping fifty dollars on a costume that is hardly worth it, I just wear something fabulous but creepy at the same time? Something I already have in my closet. Or maybe use this as an excuse to go out and buy something fabulous and creepy. So I've been looking around Polyvore.com to get some ideas. And I found some very good ones.

Sorry about my absecense lately. I've had a very exciting last couple of days. Big changes in my professional and personal life.
First of all, my mom just announced her engagment to the family on friday night. So I've been ga-ga over wedding magazines with her ever since. Also, I am getting a short story published in The New Yorker. Still hashing out the details on that.
But let's get back into the swing of things, shall we?
mangoweb is our featured Polyvorian today. Not only is she my favorite polyvorian, but she puts together some incredible sets. Her mixture of vintage and avant garde is timeless and fashion foward. There is always a touch of humor to her sets and titles that brings a smile to my face on a daily basis (yes, I am on polyvore everyday. I'm obsessed.). Here are some of my favorite sets of hers.

La Garçonne: My Fall Obsession

Anyone who's heard me talk about fashion has heard me talk about La Garçonne. And they know that my love for this house of fashion borderlines on obsession. La Garçonne brings together some of the most amazing designers that we have in the fashion world today. Everyone from Alexander Wang to Chie Mihara to Vivienne Westwood. And not to mention some amazing new comers like Jovovich-Hawk, which I also adore.
The looks they have put together for this Fall season, are to die for. They are so dead on to my style that I can hardly contain myself.

transito has earned the title of Polyvorian of the day! She's a super stylish player from Poland, where she claims they know nothing about fashion. Well, it's obvious that she is the exception. Her sets have a sort of grunge asethetic to them with a little bit of girly and rocker touches. She piles on the details in her intricate backgrounds without taking away from the beauty of the clothes she puts together.

The Polyvorian of the day is....milk float! This Polyvorain has an off-beat flair for mixing compeletely feminine pieces with a hard edge. the muted color pallet almost sends you into a trance when you look at these sets. The bold choices in accessories prove she's not afraid to make a statement. And I just fall in love with any look that pairs eclectic tights with chunky heels.

The Amazing Design Of Rodarte

If you picked up an issue of Vogue this month, you'll see Rachel Weisz on the cover in wearing some pretty amazing stuff. She's wearing Rodarte.
I can't get over the amazing tights, let alone, the dresses and sweaters. And then when you add the shoes that Christian Louboutin did for the collection, I swoon!
I found some sets on Polyvore.com that feature some pieces from Rodarte for you to enjoy. And if you're lucky enough to be able to afford a piece of Rodarte here are some ideas of how to work it into your wardrobe.
You can check out the Vogue article on Rachel Weisz here.

Betsey Johnson

Betsey Johnson is one of the orignal queens of "more is more". She has always piled on the ruffles, tulle, sparkle, pom-poms, and fish nets. And her fall collection for 2008 certainly won't leave you missing anything that you love about Bestsey Johnson. It's called "Beat Chick". And as if it wasn't obvious, there is definitely a sixities beatnik vibe to it. And it defintely will be influencing a lot of my fashion choices this fall.

Today's featured Polyvorian is misskittenly! Her love for layered flirty skirts paired with super feminine details and killer corsets makes me swoon. Her sets are packed with tiny details that work so well together. She always has a musical inspiration and real-life story that brings each of her sets to life.

Polyvore.com Is A Girl's Best Friend

So a lot of the amazing things I find come from a wonderful website, Polyvore.com. It's a website that allows users to create collages of images from all over the web. Most of these collages revolve around fashion. But there are still a lot of creative people using it for art collages, interior design, even wedding and party planning. It's such a versatile site, but I caution you. It's highly addictive!

So, I've decided to feature some of the great fashion artists that I've found on Polyvore.

One of the most inspiring users I've found goes by the name of zoo music girl.
Her sets grab your heart with her soul-stirring titles and leave you salivating for more with her ultra glam-goth style. Her almost vintage and always rock n' roll style remind me what I really love about fashion. She's not afraid to make bold choices, even in what she wears in real life.

Here are some of my favorite sets that she has made.

I've decided that I will probably be featuring a different polyvorian everyday. So get ready for more fantastic stuff.

Welcome To More Is More!

Hello!

If you're wondering what all of this is, well, I'll tell you!

This is a fashion blog. I know their are millions of 'em, but this one is different. This one is for the brave.

I'll start by telling you a little bit about who I am. My name is Christine, but you can call me Slagonfly. I have a degree is fine art, but fashion is really what I am passionate about. I'm twenty-two (twenty-three on Oct. 13th), I live with my amazingly wonderful boyfriend, and a little chiweenie named Imhotep. I live in a small town, and have for quite some time now. But I have never let that stop me from expressing myself through fashion. I get stared at and laughed at quite a bit when I wear something crazy to "the Wal-Mart". But it doesn't bother me.
My aesthetic is vintage, girly, rock n' roll, hippie, sex kitten. Throw is some bold details, rich colors, feathers, fur, leather, flotsam and jetsam, and almost tacky jewelry and it's perfect.

And really I'm looking for others in the fashion scene and on the streets with ideas just as radical and just as ballsy. I don't come from a less is more line of thinking. More is more!

So, I hope that you will enjoy reading about all the wonderful things that I find. I'm always looking for new ideas. Weither it's an soul-stirring photograph, a killer set of boots, a kitchen gadget I can't live without, or vintage clutch. So feel free to share you're finds and ideas on here too!
